Head of Sales

Job Overview

The Head of Sales is responsible for leading the sales organization and for developing, planning, and executing Epifany’s go to market strategy. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Sales’ primary responsibilities include driving recurring revenue through the targeting, prospecting, selling and closing of net new customers as well as selling additional product offerings into the existing customer base. The Head of Sales will be measured primarily on:

  • Net new business: driving gross new bookings, as measured by ACV
  • Overall company financial success (profit margin and revenue)
  • Evaluating and managing the overall ROI of the sales organization, via managing headcount expense vs. output (as measured by stats such as bookings/FTE)


  • A roll up your sleeves approach including playing a hands-on role in helping sell, negotiate and close deals
  • Apply a deep understanding of prospects, customers, partners and our overall market to define, develop, and deliver a sales strategy in line with company’s business strategy while continuously evaluating the model’s effectiveness
  • Build and manage a results-oriented team which achieves company goals in a cost-effective and timely manner
  • Take ownership of sales outcomes including bookings results, staff turnover/attrition, and pipeline integrity
  • Develop and maintain key internal relationships with other team members to enhance support for sales efforts
  • Continuous evaluation of team structure and alignment to ensure the organization effectively evolves alongside our corporate and product strategy
  • Work closely with Client Success and Product Development to drive lead generation and communication of a compelling value proposition to customers
  • Create a culture that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating a diverse group of high performing employees at all levels


  • Experience selling 6-figure transactions into Fortune 1000 organizations, leveraging established solution selling methodologies
  • Demonstrated, verifiable success against sales quotas/targets
  • Ability to execute in a start-up environment and build structure vs. having structure provided
  • Impeccable integrity and ethical standards
  • Experience with all stages of the sales cycle, from demand generation to closing
  • Experience managing sales compensation strategy and aligning sales compensation strategy to company results
  • Proven ability to identify, hire, onboard and retain top level sales talent
  • Proven track record of establishing and maintaining executive level relationships into Fortune 1000 organizations
  • Analytical skills and data-orientation in decision making, in a fast-paced environment
  • Expertise and understanding of SaaS/recurring revenue models
  • Outstanding communication skills

Education / Experience

  • BS or BA degree required
  • Eight or more years of well-rounded sales experience in positions of increasing responsibility, as well as two to four years of experience in a leadership role, preferably with a subscription-based software company (SaaS)
  • Experience selling into large restaurant chains preferred (not required)


  • At least 20% travel required
